First Interactive Congress Scorecard on Palestine Released

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WASHINGTON, DC, March 4, 2024—The US Campaign for Palestinian Rights Action (USCPR Action) released its first Congress scorecard today. This resource is the first interactive and comprehensive U.S. Congress scorecard released on Palestinian rights, ranking Democratic members of the United States House of Representatives and Senate based on their legislative records.

With this educational and advocacy resource, constituents can see where their members of Congress stand on Palestinian rights. The scorecard highlights current issues such as supporting a permanent ceasefire and stopping transfer of U.S. weapons to Israel.

“We have seen the U.S. mobilize in thousands of protests across the country calling for a ceasefire and the liberation of Palestine,” said Ahmad Abuznaid, Executive Director of USCPR Action. “We know that those who are taking to the streets will also take their love for the people of Palestine with them into every space they see a chance to push for change. We believe that we will win.”

Beyond the widely reported shifts among youth voters, Arab voters, and Muslim voters, Americans of all demographics are refusing to accept the ongoing U.S.-funded genocide in Palestine. 67% of the U.S. public supports a permanent ceasefire, and half of Biden’s 2020 voters believe Israel is commiting genocide against the Palestinian people.

“From Texas to Washington, DC, we have seen historic numbers of Americans demonstrating en masse to demand that our government stop arming Israel with our tax dollars,” said Iman Abid, Organizing & Advocacy Director of USCPR Action. “It is vital to hold our politicians elected into leadership accountable, because there would be no genocide without U.S. miltary funding and the political backing of both parties.”

Despite efforts to suppress Palestinian voices, including Israel’s mass killing of journalists in Gaza to stop the flow of information, this ongoing genocide has changed the national political landscape toward Palestine and Israel in the U.S.

Launched in December of 2023, the US Campaign for Palestinian Rights Action (USCPR Action) is the advocacy and political arm of the US Campaign for Palestinian Rights. USCPR Action was created to advance Palestinian rights in U.S. politics, including the urgent need to stop the genocide in Gaza, which enters its 150th day today.
