US CAMPAIGN FOR PALESTINIAN RIGHTS LAUNCHES 501(C)(4) ACTION ARM
WASHINGTON DC, DECEMBER 21, 2023—Today, the US Campaign for Palestinian Rights Action (USCPR Action), the advocacy and political arm of the US Campaign for Palestinian Rights, announced its official launch to advance Palestinian rights in U.S. politics ahead of the 2024 election year, including the urgent need to stop the genocide in Gaza.
USCPR Action will build power in advocating for legislation, endorsing political candidates, holding elected officials accountable, and building power across movements.
“This is a chance to leverage our relationships across grassroots and policy spaces,” said Ahmad Abuznaid, Executive Director of USCPR Action. “We’re committed to ending the $3.8+ billion a year in U.S. military funding to Israel, which is fueling Israel’s genocide against the Palestinian people right now. We’ll also advocate on a range of issues for collective liberation, including Indigenous rights, climate justice, abolition, and more.”
USCPR Action is going up against the deeply entrenched anti-Palestinian racism, Islamophobia, and imperialism of the U.S. government, which is complicit in genocide, and the influential political power of Zionist lobby groups like AIPAC and Christians United for Israel (CUFI).
Millions of Americans have taken action for Palestinian rights these past two months, from pouring into the streets to protest to making the phones in Congress ring off the hook.
The people support Palestinian rights, as the poll data makes clear, with 61% of U.S. voters supporting a ceasefire to stop the genocide in Gaza. Yet the majority of Congress, out of touch with the voices of the public, have dragged their feet on calling for a ceasefire. It’s time to make sure our elected officials know the power of the people rising up together.
USCPR Action will commit to the following in the next year:
Generate a congressional scorecard to rank candidates and hold elected officials accountable
Launch our election pledge both for candidates and cross-movement partners
Endorse supported candidates running in 2024 and beyond
Directly advocate on Capitol Hill, including advocating for legislation to end U.S. military funding to Israel.
