2025 was the deadliest year in ICE custody in two decades—31 people died while detained. ICE agents are shooting people in the streets, killing Keith Porter Jr. in Los Angeles, Renee Nicole Good and Alex Pretti in Minneapolis, and Silverio Villegas Gonzalez in Chicago. ICE now operates more than 200 abuse ridden detention facilities across the country.
Representatives Delia Ramirez and Yvette Clarke just introduced the Melt ICE Act (H.R. 7190)—legislation to defund and dismantle ICE's entire detention infrastructure.
That’s because ICE doesn’t need to be reformed; it needs to be abolished.
