ARMS EMBARGO ON
ISRAEL NOW
A U.S. arms embargo against Israel is legally and morally mandatory to stop the genocide against the Palestinian people. Here’s why.
Tell Congress: Stop Arming Israel NOW!
Why is an arms embargo a moral and legal obligation?
The US is the Israeli military’s biggest funder and enabler.
Since October 2023, the federal U.S. government sent Israel at least $30 billion in military funding to mass murder the Palestinian people.
With our tax dollars, Israel has killed over 64,000 Palestinian people in Gaza, and continues to do so, every single day.
That official death toll is likely a severe undercount, as it does not include indirect killings through deliberate genocidal conditions such as forced starvation and healthcare destruction. Experts estimate that Israel has wiped out as many as hundreds of thousands of Palestinian people in Gaza.¹

Under international law, United Nations member states have been under legal obligation to impose an arms embargo on Israel at least since the 1967 Naksa and illegal military occupation of Palestine. For decades, Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank have been denied their human rights enshrined in the global community.
The international community can no longer ignore their obligation to impose an arms embargo against Israel. Since October 2023, these countries have upheld international law and ceased the sale of weapons to Israel:
Germany
Slovenia
Canada
Italy
Japan
Belgium
The Netherlands
Spain
The United Kingdom
Bolivia
Colombia
Cuba
Indonesia
Iraq
Libya
Malaysia
Namibia
Nicaragua
Oman
Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
South Africa²
Still, the United States continues to supply the vast majority of weapons to obliterate Gaza and has used its diplomatic power to veto UN ceasefire resolutions under both Biden and Trump, enabling Israel’s countless crimes against humanity.³ It is our moral and legal obligation to cut off the endless supply of U.S. weapons to Israel.
2. Israel is committing genocide, made possible by the U.S.
Palestinian people in Gaza are enduring extermination by high-tech experimental weapons designed to vaporize bodies, sever limbs, combust lungs, and set fire to human beings. Survivors witness the horrors, search for the charred flesh, the decapitated heads of their children among the rubble, and then turn to the camera, to us, begging for help. ⁴
It’s not enough to bear witness to the extermination of a people on our dime. A U.S. arms embargo against Israel is the most effective legal path to end the genocide.
3. The U.S. cuts healthcare for our kids so it can help Israel kill Palestinian kids.
The reason the majority of Americans live paycheck to paycheck, despite working multiple jobs, is because our elected officials are bought by the ruling class. The war, prison, and poverty industries have representation in both political parties through their powerful lobby groups. Americans are tired of funding Israel's endless killing and destruction at the expense of humanity.
Our government should be funding what our communities really need: healthcare, housing, education, climate justice, economic justice, and community-led safety resources. Read more about our collective vision for a liberated future.
Israel’s genocide is the deadliest conflict for children on Earth …and Israel has killed 17,400+ Palestinian children in Gaza during this U.S.-funded genocide.

It’s time for the people to take back the power.
We know it doesn’t have to be this way. This country has more than enough resources to care for all its people. If we collectively rise, we can end the genocide and stop arming systems of violence. “We are not free until all of us are free” is not a metaphor. It’s our reality. Free Palestine. Free us all.

At a minimum every year before 2023, the average individual taxpayer contributed at least $25.25 in weapons to Israel. In 2024, the U.S. sent nearly 5x its typical $3.8 billion in weapons to Israel, totaling at least $17.9 billion.⁶ By that math, the average taxpayer contributed $118.93 to Israel’s genocide on Palestine in 2024.⁷
FAQs About U.S. Funding Israel
-
Capitalism and imperialism are big reasons the U.S. funds Israel’s military. The profit margins are steep for stealing land and manufacturing, testing, and selling the weapons Israel uses to mass murder Palestinians. Instead of representing and protecting the people, the U.S. funds Israel’s military as a cover for the American weapons industry’s massive profits and to advance its own imperial interests.
Israel tests out new weapons on Palestinian people, which allows companies like Lockheed Martin, Boeing, and Northrup Grumman to advertise their surveillance and war tech as “field proven.”⁸ The war industry then sells these weapons to the U.S. government, oftentimes to use against its own citizens.⁹ Additionally, many U.S. elected officials take massive amounts of dark money from anti-Palestinian lobby groups like AIPAC.¹⁰In short, American taxpayers are forced to pay their own money so that war CEOs can profit and Israel can steal native Palestinian land. Like Palestinians, Americans are also disposable to corporations and the ruling class.

The so-called “military aid” that the U.S. gives Israel is effectively a free gift card to buy from U.S. arms manufacturers. Our tax dollars seem to return to the pockets of Raytheon, Northrup Grumman and Lockheed Martin CEOs and genocide profiteers. Up to 78% of arms sales to Israel come from U.S. taxpayers.

Methodology: If total federal funding to Israel increased by 471% (17,900,000,000 / 3,800,000,000=4.711), then a 471% increase on $25.25 is $118.93 (4.71x$25.25). https://www.notmytaxdollars.org/methodology
