Flyer on the 4th: Block the Bombs over Gaza

By Ahmad Abuznaid, Executive Director

As Americans prepare to set off fireworks for Fourth of July, Israel is using our U.S. tax dollars to bomb Gaza and shoot starved Palestinian people seeking aid.

I’m going to be honest: it’s hard to look at fireworks without thinking of the far more deadly explosions our tax dollars are funding to kill my people. It was Palestinian-American poet Naomi Shihab Nye who famously wrote, "To enjoy fireworks you would have to have lived a different kind of life."

But here’s the thing. Many Americans who will attend such celebrations, proudly waving their flags, don’t know they’re being robbed of resources by their own government.

They’re facing rising grocery prices, healthcare cuts, climate disasters, and skyrocketing rent, all while our politicians put Israel first to arm genocide and war.

This is where you come in, Catherine. You can start a conversation to wake up Americans in your community. Gather a few friends and flyer together at your local Fourth of July events. Sign up now.

Take a second and imagine if everyone who supports Palestinian rights showed up to local fireworks events with handfuls of Not My Tax Dollars flyers. People who are feeling the pinch of the economic crisis, people who don’t want their country to keep fueling violence, would pause and think.

Sometimes, that’s all it takes to wake up.

Already, 60% of the American public opposes U.S. involvement in war with Iran and 61% oppose arming Israel. Even those who previously tuned out are starting to pay attention after Trump bombed Iran on Israel’s behalf.

Block the bombs now! This Fourth of July, let everyone in your community know that our government is abusing our tax dollars to fund genocide and war.

Pass out Not My Tax Dollars flyers at your local fireworks show, parade, elected official's event, or other high-traffic location.

Fill out this short form to sign up, and we'll send you simple flyers you can print out en masse.

Want to do more? You can also:

  • Wheatpaste Not My Tax Dollars flyers in public spaces, especially near local Fourth of July events.

  • Drop a “Block the Bombs over Gaza” banner near a local event.

  • Organize a protest. Find out if complicit politicians or weapons manufacturers will be at local events, and disrupt with a loud noise demonstration (megaphones, pots and pans, “honk to stop arming Israel,” you name it).

Just make sure to check local laws, which may vary, and plan for safety. Keep up the fight.
