Ceasefire today, Block the Bombs next
By Ahmad Abuznaid, USCPR Action’s Executive Director
Finally, a ceasefire deal has been agreed upon and expected to arrive within the coming hours.
The most urgent necessity is to protect Palestinian lives on the ground. This ceasefire is welcome news and a long-overdue relief for Palestinians who have been living an endless daily nightmare for the past two years.
But when bombs stop dropping, the effects of genocide rage on.
Israel has deliberately created the conditions for mass death in Gaza—destroying the healthcare system, forcibly starving an entire population, leveling infrastructure to rubble, polluting the land with white phosphorus¹ , blocking any type of aid that could provide relief, and ruining sanitation systems so disease can easily spread.
Starved Palestinians are sleeping in tents after Israel destroyed their homes. Even if the bombs stop, Israeli forces leave, and humanitarian aid enters today, Palestinians will still be killed by the effects of these genocidal conditions.
Get everything you need to keep fighting.

What Happens After A Ceasefire?
The genocide must be brought to a swift end. A permanent ceasefire has been our absolute bare minimum demand for over two years. It is reprehensible that our U.S. government has been funding and fueling this genocide with our tax dollars for this long, in violation of U.S. and international law.
If Trump is serious about peace, then he must:
Hold the aggressor, Israel, accountable to a permanent ceasefire, given that Israel has violated past ceasefire agreements countless times with impunity²
Stop sending Israel free weapons paid by our U.S. tax dollars.
Here's what we're demanding:
#StopArmingIsrael once and for all. The U.S. government must use its massive leverage as Israel's biggest funder and cut off the endless supply of weapons and military funding. Cosponsor the Block the Bombs Act (H.R. 3565).
Immediate and sustained entry of all humanitarian aid into Gaza and reinstate UNRWA funding.
An end to Israel's blockade, siege, and military occupation. Israeli forces must be forced to withdraw completely from Gaza. Israel and other foreign actors must not be allowed to steal an inch of Palestinian land.
Gaza must be reconstructed and led by a sovereign Palestinian governing body. Colonial plans to install a foreign board to supervise governance would directly violate Palestinian sovereignty³. Israel totally destroyed hundreds of schools, universities, places of worship, and hospitals, so Palestinians have no safe shelter. Full reconstruction now.
Every war criminal must be held accountable at the Hague. It is estimated that Israel has wiped out hundreds of thousands of Palestinian people in Gaza since October 2023, including indirect killings through deliberately engineered genocidal conditions⁴. Israel can never be allowed to kill with rampant impunity again.
The right of return for all Palestinian refugees expelled from their homes and land.
Palestinian-led governance, sovereignty, and self-determination. Free Palestine and landback to Indigenous Palestinian people.
There is no turning back to the status quo.
This ceasefire never would have happened without tens of thousands of Palestinians in Gaza sharing their stories with the world and documenting genocide as they fought to survive. Millions of people all over the world rose up in protest over and over again, and refused to normalize genocide in their everyday lives.
Support for a free Palestine is higher than ever, despite many politicians' efforts to quash it⁵. The people see through the genocidal propaganda to dehumanize Palestinians and manufacture consent for their deaths.
Students have risen up. Politicians from both parties have been exposed for their participation in genocide.
Palestine will be free.
For over 77 years, Israel has violently oppressed Palestinians, stolen their native land, and killed them in cold blood. This horror must end. Palestinian people must be free to live safely in and return to their homeland, and the U.S. government must cut off the endless supply of weapons to Israel.
The people will take action for Palestine and for collective liberation again and again. Keep fighting. We're in this fight until we're all free.
