USCPR Action endorses nine bold progressives in first slate
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WASHINGTON, DC, May 12, 2026—Ahead of the pivotal 2026 midterm elections, the US Campaign for Palestinian Rights Action (USCPR Action) has endorsed nine bold progressives who are fighting for a future where American tax dollars fund care for our communities instead of America’s forever wars.
Each federal candidate champions policies to improve affordability for working families, while standing firmly against funding genocide, war, and state violence.
“We’re fighting to build unprecedented support for Palestinian liberation across the political landscape, from local city council races to state comptrollers to the halls of Congress,” said Ahmad Abuznaid, the Executive Director of USCPR Action. “These bold progressives are unbought and uncompromised. They’re who need to govern on behalf of the people—not AIPAC and the U.S. war machine.”
USCPR Action, one of the largest U.S-based advocacy organizations for Palestinian liberation, released its first endorsement for New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani last year, who went on to win the election. His affordability policies have skyrocketed in popularity compared to AIPAC-bought candidates.
USCPR Action’s first full slate of endorsements includes:
Darializa Chevalier, who organized for divestment as a student at Columbia University.
Saikat Chakrabarti, one of the founders of Justice Democrats who helped build the original Squad.
Adam Hamawy, a doctor who treated Palestinian patients in Gaza in 2024.
Chris Rabb, a long-time state representative in Pennsylvania who has protested against Israel bonds.
Claire Valdez, a rank-and-file organizer with United Auto Workers in NYC.
Donavan McKinney, a union leader for SEIU Healthcare Michigan who fought for a living wage.
As well as members of Congress who've shown what courage looks like and paved the way for historic progress: former Rep. Cori Bush, Rep. Rashida Tlaib, and Rep. Delia Ramirez.
In order to qualify for endorsement, candidates had to demonstrate a strong commitment to transforming policies on Palestine. An endorsement from USCPR Action means the candidate aligns with our urgent demand for an arms embargo on Israel, they’ve refused to take AIPAC money, and they have what it takes to win.
Overwhelming majorities of U.S. voters support Palestinian rights. 75% of Democratic voters want to stop sending weapons to arm Israel.
“Palestinians carry the weight of decades of colonial violence,” said Ahmad Abuznaid, the Executive Director of USCPR Action. “As Israel tries to eliminate our stories, our voices, and our families, we are more determined than ever to fight for the humanity of our people and the grassroots demands of our movement.”
Quotes from endorsed candidates
Congresswoman Cori Bush (running for MO-01): “I am honored to earn the endorsement of USCPR Action, an organization that does essential work to both advocate for the freedom of the Palestinian people and provide support for the Palestine solidarity movement. I’m committed to continuing to speak up for the rights and freedoms of the Palestinian community both at home and abroad. I’m proud to be running to go back to Congress to continue my work to stop U.S. arms transfers to Israel’s government and stand up for our 1st Amendment rights to organize to stop the genocide. This political moment calls for leadership that is unafraid to confront the reality of our nation’s foreign policy and take the necessary steps to end U.S. complicity in war crimes, apartheid, and genocide.”
Congresswoman Delia Ramirez (IL-04): “From Chicago to Palestine, we must be clear that our peace, safety, and well being are interconnected. Right now, our communities are confronting unaccountable leaders trying to advance their imperialistic agendas. They want our resources, our lands, our freedoms, and our lives. But I am clear that we can choose a path that honors our shared humanity and safety. That’s why I'm honored to receive the endorsement of USCPR Action, an organization that shares my commitment to fighting for collective liberation. Together, we are shifting the political landscape as we continue our fight to Block the Bombs, protect our communities and democracy, and end the genocide in Palestine.”
Claire Valdez (running for NY-07): “Working people in Brooklyn and Queens have more in common with working people in Palestine than we do with the billionaires and defense contractors who profit from their suffering. I'm proud to earn USCPR Action's endorsement because the fight for Palestinian liberation is inseparable from the fight for dignity and justice here at home. In Congress, I will vote to end military funding to Israel, cosponsor Block the Bombs, and fight every day for a free Palestine.”
Darializa Chevalier (running for NY-13): “It is an honor to receive USCPR Action’s endorsement as we continue the fight for the freedom for the Palestinian people. USCPR and I share a belief that a free Palestine is an integral part of achieving our collective liberation. I look forward to working together to build solitary, change public opinion, and advance a rights-based and justice-oriented framework from the U.S. to Palestine.”
Donavan McKinney (running for MI-13): "I am grateful to have the endorsement of USCPR Action. For too long, our tax dollars have funded forever wars and genocide instead of housing and healthcare for us at home. I am proud to be aligned with USCPR Action and look forward to working together towards ending oppression overseas and at home."
Saikat Chakrabarti (running for CA-11): “I’m proud to have the support of USCPR Action and to stand with a movement advancing freedom and justice for the Palestinian people. We must end U.S. complicity in the genocide in Gaza and Israeli apartheid and the occupation of Palestinian lands. I’m committed to fighting for policies that are anti-war, protect human rights, and invest in our communities.”
Adam Hamawy (running for NJ-12): “It is incredibly meaningful to receive the endorsement of USPCR Action. I’ve been to war—and what I witnessed with my own eyes in Gaza was not war, it was genocide. When I returned to the US, I knew I had an obligation to go to Washington and advocate. It was organizations like USPCR Action that helped facilitate my advocacy.
In Congress, I will fight for a US foreign policy that centers human rights, including full arms embargoes on states like Israel, which are committing genocide. I will stand against discrimination and bigotry at home, and work for a people-first agenda that puts the working-class first, not the billionaires and corrupt special interests.”
